Tomelilla Konsthall
Art gallery in Tomelilla
Tomelilla Konsthall is located in the Tomelilla Kulturhus in the centre of the city of Tomelilla, in the municipality of Tomelilla Kommun.
In addition to the art gallery of Tomelilla, the library, a jazz archive with over 8,000 LPs and a school for visual arts are also located in the rooms of the Tomelilla Kutlurhus. The building is therefore a meeting place for people involved in art and culture and a venue for theatre performances, lectures and concerts.
The art gallery in Tomelilla
The Tomelilla Konsthall with its exhibitions is particularly well known beyond the city limits and was also the reason for the construction of the current building. The art gallery was opened in 1965, making it one of the first in a small Swedish town. The Swedish King at the time, Gustav VI Adolf (1882 - 1973), was invited as a guest of honour.
In 2007/08, the art gallery was renovated and extended and has had four exhibition rooms since then. Constantly changing exhibitions and vernissages have always attracted art enthusiasts. Most of the exhibits are by Swedish artists, as well as the works of students.
