Djurparken Traryd-Skans
Animal park in Traryd
Djurparken Traryd-Skans is a cosy animal park on the river Lagan in Trayrd, a small village on the eastern edge of the municipality Markaryds Kommun.
The animal park bears its name due to the fact that it is located on the site of a medieval fortification, the Traryd-Skans, of which the remains of the former ramparts can still be seen on the riverbank.
The animal park, as well as the adjacent homestead museum Traheryds Hembygdspark, is run by the local heritage association Traryd in voluntary work. It is inhabited mainly by native species of old breeds such as Gute sheep, goats, pigs, rabbits, peacocks and specimens of various old chicken and duck breeds. Foreign species are represented by African pygmy goats and Shetland ponies.
The animal park is open throughout the year and around the clock. At the entrance, the heritage association asks for a small donation you can throw into the collection box.
