Elinge Älgpark

The Elinge Älgpark is not as extensive as other elk parks, but nevertheless has three large fenced game enclosures, which offer the elks sufficient retreat possibilities. There are usually eight adult elks living in the park, which are joined by the young animals born in the park during the year.

The elks in the Elinge Älgpark can be touched, because unlike their wild relatives, the majestic animals in the elk park are extremely trusting and willing to be petted. The trustfulness of the elks is further enhanced by the fresh birch twigs that every visitor is given at the entrance to the park and is allowed to feed them to the elks.

Due to the high natural grease concentration, which makes the fur of the animals water-repellent, you will get quite black hands when stroking them. At the exit of the park there is a handwashing basin and soap to remove the grease film from the hands.

What else offers the elk park Elinge

Everywhere in the area there are picnic tables where you can eat your brought provisions or just sit down to watch the elks in the nearest enclosure. A playground in the middle of the park also offers the little visitors ample opportunity to live out their urge to move around on various playground equipment.

In front of the park entrance there is a richly stocked elk shop, where you can find everything from car stickers, fridge magnets and key rings to cups, coasters, shirts, baseball caps and soft toys and countless other products, which feature an elk motif or which do have any relation to elk.

The café, located opposite the main building, is open during the high season from the beginning of May to the end of August. Besides coffee and soft drinks, the café offers homemade Småland cheesecake as well as various hot dishes, whereby the café's top seller is the creation of an elk burger.

Unlike many other parks, Elinge Älgpark is open daily all year round and offers the opportunity to meet the elks up close at any time of the year. However, dogs are not allowed in the park, as there is a high risk that the elks will react in panic to the dogs.
