Vetlanda Museum
Cultural History Museum in Vetlanda
The Vetlanda Museum is located in the centre of Vetlanda, the main town of the municipality Vetlanda Kommun, and preserves the cultural heritage of the town and the entire municipality.
The museum is located in the town's former courthouse, an elongated brick building dating from 1938, and displays a variety of permanent and temporary exhibitions on two floors with a focus on local art and cultural history. All exhibitions offer child-friendly contents and interaction opportunities.
The exhibitions at Vetlanda Museum
The exhibitions feature items from the museum's extensive collections, which include a large number of photographs, archival documents and objects of all kinds from Vetlanda's past and present, as well as an extensive art collection. The Vetlanda Museum is therefore also responsible for the municipal art collection, whose objects adorn public buildings and squares in the municipality.
In addition to the exhibitions, the museum offers the opportunity for young and old to give free rein to their creativity in its open workshop for art and crafts. The workshop is accessible during the museum's opening hours and its use is free, as is the entry to the museum. In the foyer of the museum there is a small shop with an interesting assortment, the opportunity for a coffee break as well as an info point of the local tourist office.
The Vetlanda Museum also includes three outposts, namely the Ädelfors Gruv- och Mineralmuseum, the cultural reserve Högarps By and the Vetlanda Skolmuseum at the open-air museum Forngården.
