Holjeån

Fishing river between Olofström and Bromölla

The Holejån is a popular fishing river and also very well suited for rafting and boating in the southern part. The river rises from the lake Halen west of Olofström and ends in the neighboring municipality Brömölla in the lake Ivös.

Fishing is allowed the entire length of the Holjeån, apart from some prohibited areas. There are trouts, pikes, roaches, breams and perches. Fishing cards can be bought at the tourist offices in Olofström and Bromölla or in some local stores.

The fishing season is from March 01 to September 30, fish under 50 centimeters in length must be released again and a maximum of two salmon-like fish per person per day are allowed to catch.

Between the nature reserve Östafors Bruk and the lake Ivö, the river is passable by canoe and kayak. The approximately 24-kilometer paddling route of the Holjeån is divided into two 12 kilometers-long parts.
